A variant of the game of bowling, made much more difficult by four factors: (1) the ball is much smaller (the same size as in duckpin bowling); (2) the pins are roughly cylindrical; (3) knocked-down pins are NOT swept away until the end of a frame, and this "deadwood" must be accounted for when throwing the second and third balls; (4) you have to travel to New England to find a candlepin bowling alley.
