CD TEXT is the latest extension of the Audio CD that standard "Red Book" contains additional information besides the audio tracks. This information can be the title of the CD, the name of the artist, info on the tracks (songtitle, artist), etc.
The information is stored as a single block of data found before lead in area of the CD. You can store about 2500 characters with Kanji, and about 5000 characters with letters / numbers. The CD TEXT information can be displayed by the newer generation Audio CD players and Audio CD multichangers. CD TEXT discs can be identified with the word TEXT written under the Compact Disc Digital Audio Logo.
