A Bundesstatt is German for a Federal State. A Federal State is the union of different member states, provinces, countries, cantons etc., which fulfill their own special needs, with a national government to the fulfilment of common needs. The United States of America, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and the Federal Republic of Germany are all Federal States. The federalism connects unity despite allowing space for varity.
