BUDDY GUY'S LEGENDS - a Blues Club with Great Southern Cuisine

Currently located at 754 S. Wabash St. in Chicago, Buddy Guy's Legends si, is Chicago's foremost blues club and is owned by blues Legend Buddy Guy.

A formidable array of visiting talent and Chicago bluesmen play here including Buddy Guy (about 10 shows a year), Taj Mahal, Dr. John, Johnny Adams & the Dirty Dozen Brass Band are regular visitors, as well as locals Sugar Blue and Koko Taylor. Eric Clapton once played three dates one November in the 1990s at Legends. The cover and the drinks are pricey enough to attract the city's best Yuppies, the music is 90% of the time worth the fees.

Some cool memorabilia (portraits, a green-sequined dress which Koko Taylor wore in the '50s, a Muddy Waters tour jacket, as well as guitars owned by Clapton and other bluesmen) can be found on the walls. There are a couple of pool tables, and the kitchen serves hot sandwiches, simple bar food and some unusual specials (like Red Snapper and Shrimp Creole) during the evening. Usually $6+ cover. Tel: (312) 427-0333 I guess the club will be moving a block north sometime soon to the Sam-Isabel Building at: 635 S. Wabash St. Chicago, IL 60605
