The British Air Line Pilots Association or BALPA is the British Trades Union for civilian air line pilots with a membership of some 6,000.

It derives its origins from the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators which was established in 1929 but was itself founded at Greyhound Hotel, Croydon in 1937 by Eric Lane-Burslam and eighty seven other pilots.
