A town west of London, outside the M25. It's built on it's proximity to the M4, M3 and London Heathrow Airport and is without even a smidgeon of human interest. Lots and lots of slowly dying technical companies are based here.
A place where everyone wants to work, and no-one wants to live. At 6pm, when the wage slaves return home, the town is populated only by 17 year old girls pushing prams, boys with badly cut hair, and men with too many tattoos.
If the phrase was used in the UK, then white trash would be fitting.
Maybe I'm a snob. Maybe it's because I work there, but grew up in Brighton.
Basingstoke has an undeservedly worse reputation, when it's only merely equally as bleak.
