The Future of Pitching
Baseball America ranked Bobby Jenks as Anaheim's 3rd best prospect behind Casey Kotchman and Jeff Mathis.
The big Anaheim Angels right-hander has ripped off a fastball as high as 102
miles per hour, has consistently thrown 98-100mph for 8 innings, and has shown a
terrific offspeed curveball. At times he can completely dominate a
lineup.
He has also showed a fond desire to get wasted, as he
has more than once brought alcohol onto the team bus. In high
school he was academically ineligible for 3 out of his 4 years. He was
forced to hire a personal trainer and have him push for Jenks to be drafted
because he could not perform for scouts.
He has averaged more than 1 strikeout per inning throughout his
professional career. Anaheim drafted Jenks with the 140th overall pick in
round 5 of the 2000 June amateur draft. He is listed at 6'3",
230lbs and is currently 22 years of age.
