This is a surgical procedure which involves a antrectomy plus a gastroduodenostomy. What this means is that the bottom part of the stomach (the antrum of the stomach) is removed and the remainder is connected to the duodenum.


This procedure is named after the German surgeon Theodor Billroth, who first performed this operation in 1881 on a 43 year old woman with pyloric gastric cancer.
