Bart Kosko is a philospher / scientist whom specilizes in "the grey" (as opposed to black or white). He is a professor and has degrees in mathematics, philosphy, economics and electrical engineering. He is the author of the book Neural Networks, Fuzzy Systems and Fuzzy Thinking.
This guy has some great views on the attempt to classify things with one of two adjectives, while it is both. Think of trying to pin water down to a plastic tray with tiny needles.
