Author of several books on Feminist spirituality including the volumous Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets and the Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects. She has written books as well on the Tarot, the I Ching, stones, rituals and being a crone.

She is absolutely of the all-men-are-evil school of feminism, although not as out there as Mary Daly. Her scholarship is extensive, but she does occasionally cite dubious sources and legends as fact (see Pope Joan). Interestingly, she is absolutely scathing in her attacks on fluffy New Age thinking, and her criticisms of the purported powers of crystals are hilarious.

I wrote the following poem after reading some of her work.

After Reading Some More Barbara Walker

The old woman claws
Her angry indignation.
She steals everything nice
To her breast and keeps them
For herself and her sisters.

I hear her pain
And admire the keen
Of her thinking,
But I wish there were a place
In her ontology
For a guy like me
To write poetry,
To nurture children
And to work toward a world
Free from the hatred
Of women.
