Street slang. meaning extreme satisfaction. As in the phrase: 'I just won dinner with Elisabeth Pena... Booyah!' Or: 'Booyah! Newt Gingrich resigned from Congress!'

Food. A thick chicken and beef stew with carrots and potatoes, celery, shredded cabbage, corn, and seasoning. It originates in northeast Wisconsin, and is typically cooked in massive proportions in a cleaned-out oil drum, or very large kettle.

In the Green Bay area, no outdoor social event, including village festivals, birthday/confirmation/graduation parties, or wedding receptions, is complete without an enormous barrel of booyah, with a stack of paper bowls and plastic untensils. Usually enough to feed 500 people.

Word origin: Possibly from the French bouillir, "to boil." (Green Bay Press-Gazette)
