Cisco internal code-name, standing for "Big F*cking Router." Because the project took quite a while, the press eventually came to call it this as well. Upon official release, it was later renamed by the marketing department to either the "12000" or the "Gigabit Switch Router." They also liked to claim BFR just stood for "Big Fast Router" -- uh-huh, sure it did.
