Bol'shaya (or Bystrodejstvuyushchaya) Ehlektronno-Schetnaya Mashina - Big (or High-speed) Electronic Calculating Machine

A soviet 9MHz mainframe, designed in 1965 at the ITMiVT. Reputedly the last indigenous Russian computer that performed on a par with its Western counterpart, the Control Data supercomputer. More than 350 BESM-6s were built. The last of them were taken out of service in the early 1990s.
