Bes was the Ancient Egyptian god of music and dance and the god of war and slaughter. He also scared away evil spirits from women giving birth and protected children.
Bes was usually portrayed as a dwarf with bandy legs and a large head. He wears an animal skin and a headdress of feathers and carries either a harp or a shield and sword.
