On this day in history, Paris was liberated by the only remaining Free French divisions and the U.S Fourth Infantry

Hitler, by then almost completely mad, had ordered for the razing of Paris. The Nazis occupying the city were completely demoralized and gave litte resistance to the liberators. They immediately surrendered with out any major problems. They knew the war would soon be over.

From that point on, Germany was to surrender in less than a year.
