Arthur Yorinks has written sixteen books for kids. His books have won the Caldecott (Hey, Al) and been on Reading Rainbow (Louis the Fish).

Last summer, he and Maurice Sendak got together with the Pilobolus Dance Theatre to create a performance piece about the Holocaust. It was creepy, with "the jarring simplicity of a bedtime story gone terribly wrong," and everyone loved it.

Arthus lives in North Salem, New York, with his wife Adrienne, who is a textile artist and who illustrated Arthur's The Alphabet Atlas.
