A 16-bit word processor produced by Lotus Development Company, Ami Pro is the immediate predecessor to Lotus's 32-bit Word Pro.

In the heyday of Windows 3.1, Ami Pro was accepted by some as a suitable alternative to Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. When Windows 95 began to dominate the home computing market, Lotus came out with a matching word processor - but renamed it from Ami Pro to Word Pro. Since then, Ami Pro users have found very little in the way of technical support, but can take comfort in the fact that many of their Ami Pro macros will work in Word Pro.
