A collagen product made from the processed skin of dead people. Up to 1:5 collagen lip enhancement injections use Alloderm. Companies like LifeCell and Collagenesis process the harvested skin and convert it into a product that can be used without fear of infection or allergic reaction.

Where does the skin come from?

Most often, the skin comes from people who have elected to become organ donors. Of course, hospitals remove vital organs such as the heart, eyes, lung and the kidneys but once they are finished, commercial companies are free to buy up any remaining bits (unless the donor has set certain restrictions). According to one article, some of these companies have chop-shops set up in hospitals.
