Twin rows of street lights line the sidewalk
parallel and green.

Their fogged globes do not so much flash on

more a whisper,  as they flicker,  haltingly.

Soon, sparks appear with a low hum,
embers growing into a soft glow.

As dusk melts into evening, each one blooms into a single star
each pole stoic above a circle of pale light.
