An euphemism for "Black Person" in the United States. In my opinion, it's a really unfortunate term, because:
  1. It induces the idea that it's demeaning in any way to have dark colored skin, which is not true.

  2. Dark skinned people come from different places in the planet, not only Africa.

  3. Some people think of it as an educated way of saying Black, but if that'd be the case, shouldn't the term be extended to include Euro-American, Indo-American, Latin-American-American and so on?

  4. Most Afro-Americans never set their feet on Africa, and never will.
