Αιθιλλα

Daughter of Laomedon, she was one of the Trojan women captured when the city fell into the hands of the Greeks. She was given to the companions of Protesilaus and when his ships had to sail along the coast of Thrace at Pallene to take on water after the storm, Aethilla incited her fellow captives to revolt by reminding them of the sufferings they had undergone up to that point and describing the still worse ones which were awaiting them if they reached Greece. She urged them to burn the ships and they did so. The Greeks, having no option but to stay in the country, founded the city of Scione.
