Adaminaby is a small town in New South Wales not far from Cooma and Jindabyne. Cool things about this town are very limited, but here are a few:

  • There is a giant fish in the middle of town constructed primarily from chicken wire.
  • The whole town was moved about 50 years ago because the where the town used to be was about to be flooded to form one of the dams for the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme. There are photos of houses, shops, etc being moved by truck which look quite nifty. I believe Jindabyne was also moved for the same reason when Lake Jindabyne was formed.
