The NSX was the first Honda (Acura in the states) to cop DOHC VTEC technology. This is the company's flagship model and takes the form of a 2 seat, Mid engine/Rear wheel drive supercar. The various incarnations of the car are as follows:

  • 1990 - Acura NSX
  • 1995 - NSX-R
  • 1999 - NSX Alex Zanardi edition
  • 2001 - NSX-T

In it's first guise the NSX pumped out 201.3kw@7100rpm (power) and 284.7Nm@5300rpm (torque). This was good for a top speed of 270kph and a 0-60mph time of 5.6 seconds. The car cost $60,000 USD. The figures for subsequent versions are listed below:

NSX-R (1995)
Power = 216.3kw@7100rpm
Torque = 303.7Nm@5300 rpm
Top speed = 270.4kph
0-60 = 5.1 seconds

NSX Alex Zanardi edition (1999)
Power = 216.3kw@7100rpm
Torque = 304.Nm@5500 rpm
Top speed = 268.8kph
0-60 = 4.8 seconds
List Price (USD) $87,670

NSX-T (2001) Power = 216.3kw@7100rpm
Torque = 303.7Nm@5300 rpm
Top speed = 270.4kph
0-60 = 5.1 seconds
List Price (USD) $88,000

While not quite as fast as other traditional supercars (Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc) the NSX is much cheaper and as such has carved itself out a small niche in the sports/supercar market. The car was reportedly the favourite of Ayrton Senna and also has the distinction of appearing in Pulp Fiction, driven by Wolf.
