If we're going to get all scientific about this, the full name is :

6-methyl-1,2,3-oxathiazine-4(3H)-one-2,2-dioxide (potassium salt)

With molecular formula:

C₄H₄NO₄KS

This tells me a lot more about it than the commercial name 'Acesulfame' - which is no more 'scientific' than 'Ribena' or 'Hoover' or any other brand name.
