Acadiana is the name of an area to the west of Baton Rouge, Lousiana, USA, and to the east of Lake Charles. It was a swampy, malaria infested area until recently. Basically, people settled it because they had nowhere else to go.

The people there have always had a fairly easy going attitude to life. They don't really care much about education or self-advancement. If you can fish and hunt, hey, what else do you want.

Is that a good or bad attitude to have? I can't decide.
