ABI'SARES or ABI'SSARES ('Abisares), called Embisarus ('Embisaros) by Diodorus (xvii. 90, an Indian king beyond the river Hydaspes, whose territory lay in the mountains, sent embassies to Alexander the Great both before and after the conquest of Porus, although inclined to espouse the side of the latter. Alexander not only allowed him to retain his kingdom, but increased it, and on his death appointed his son as his successor. (Arrian, Anab. v. 8. 20. 29; Curt. viii. 12. 13. 14. ix. 1. x. 1.)
An original e-text for everything2. That is, I sat down and copied the text from the book (in the public domain) - it is not available on any other web site. All Greek words are transliterated into Latin characters. I seem to be noding a bunch of this, starting from the beginning. Would be great if I could find some decent OCR software for MacOS 9.
