_______________
The son of Hillel, Abdon was one of the co-called minor judges of Israel (see Tola). He was from Pirathon, a town to the west of Shechem in the hill country that was wrested from the Amalekites and allotted to the tribe of Ephraim. The 40 sons and 30 grandsons riding on 70 asses mentioned in Judges 12:14 reveal the wealth of Abdon, who judged Israel for eight years.
