On tobacco road, ACC basketball passions run pretty deep. Seperated by less than 30 miles, Duke, UNC, and NC State all share some rivalry with each other. Some fans root for their team, plus ABC- Anybody But Carolina. Alternatively stated, "My two favorite teams are Duke and whoever is playing Carolina."
Occasionally the situation arises when it is to one team’s advantage that Carolina wins. Debate and dissension occurs in the ranks of said team's faithful- who to root for? The hated rival? True ABC fans refuse to ever cheer for Carolina, even if it is to the advantage of their own favorite team.
Note: I refer to UNC as Carolina, as is custom for residents of North Carolina. Perhaps in South Carolina, ABC fans might alternatively root for their own team and whoever is playing the South Carolina Gamecocks.
