I've been teaching math for two years now in a public school not too far from where I live. I'm actually a volunteer there which means I don't get paid one cent for it, but it's alright. I'm only glad to be able to help others by passing on some of the knowledge I've gained in my 24 years of existence. It feels great to talk to my students and connect with them, not only on a student-teacher level but on a more personal level as well. They tell me about their troubles at school or at home, their joys and worries. It's amazing but sometimes I find that I end up learning more from the students than the students learn from me. Not that they don't learn anything, but it's tough sometimes. Anyway that's not the point of this writing. You see, there is a girl. She was in my class the year I began teaching there. Yes, she's a student. She's 18 now and has since then moved on to the next grade so we don't see each other much anymore...or so everyone thinks. The truth is we're dating. Secretly of course. Now, I know our relationship is indeed unorthodox. Not only is she a student, she's 6 years younger than me (neither of us cared about the age difference but I wasn't sure how other people would react) which is why we decided to keep our thing secret. I still remember the first time I saw her. It's funny but looking back, I can distinctly remember not finding her at all attractive. It thought she was rather cold-looking and messy. It was only after I noticed her being interested in me that I started seeing her differently. Two things I learned from this:

1. First impressions don't mean a thing.
2. You will be attracted to people who are attracted to you.

Is it against the rules? Probably. She was worth it though.
