"90 Day Wonder" was the term given to some junior military officers in the in the US during WWII. The term derives from the fact that many of the college-educated men, who signed up to serve, completed officer's training school in only 90 days. While cadets or midshipmen at the service academies spent four years preparing themselves to lead. They were pushed through training because of the heightened need for officers during the war.
