744 is a very funny number for Bay Area linuxers. 744 Harrison was the home of the CoffeeNet one of the first, if not the first, Linux based internet cafe's. It was also the home of Rick Moen and Richard Couture who was one of the founders of The Little Garden ISP (TLG) which was bought by some big conglomerate some time ago.

744 Harrison was also a meeting place for local linux heads and installfests happened there. Funnily enough Don Marti had his business office for ElectricLichen in the back room. It was all good.

What makes the number -funny- however, is the existance of another Linux oriented coffee shop in Mountain View on 744 W Dana street! So that's what is funny-strage about the number 744.
