10,000 Villages is an arm of the
non-profit organization MCC that provides
aid in a
unique way to
artisans in
third-world countries. MCC uses
volunteer workers to
import and
retail the products made by these people, and sends
money from the proceeds back to the
individuals who created them.
10,000 Villages is headquartered in Akron, Pennsylvania (or maybe Ephrata, I don't really recall). There is a store in Portland, OR at 35th and Hawthorne.
