A term refering to the measure of a car's acceleration capabilities when starting from a stand still, and topping off at 60mph. Almost always stated in seconds, but when refering to drivers (such as my grandparents), it can sometimes be stated in minutes.

If you fall out of an airplane, your 0-60 will be about 2-3/4 seconds, discounting wind resistance.

Proof?

  v = 60 mph = 27 m/s
  a = 9.81 m / s2

  v = at
  t = v / a = 27 m/s  /  9.81 m/s2 = 2.75 s

As Foghorn Leghorn once said, "You can argue with me, boy, but you can't argue with the immutable laws of physics."
