The country code top level domain (ccTLD) .IS is assigned to Iceland. The TLD is not restricted for use and is commonly used as a domain hack for words that end or go with in "is" like who.is or myname.is. There are no requirements for a connection to the country itself and is available for use worldwide.

There are no officially configured third-level subdomains and all registered ones are directly at the second-level. The .IS registry is considered one of the top ten most secure registries in the world.

The .IS ccTLD has been activated by ISNIC, the sponsor and registrar. The ccTLD has been available since 1986, making it one of the oldest domain ccTLDs, with hi.is being one of the earliest registered domains on the Internet. The Internet and the ccTLD is available and popular both inside and outside the country.
