These measures are being taken to prepare for "the July 13-15 visit by the SACS {(<a href="/title/Southern+Association+of+Colleges+and+Schools">Southern Association of Colleges and Schools</a>)} Team for affirmation of our Level II Status to offer <a href="/title/baccalaureate">baccalaureate</a> degrees." As of July 12, the new statements have been placed within the second floor <a href="/title/Sanford">Sanford</a>/<a href="/title/Lake+Mary">Lake Mary</a> campus' (SL/M) <a href="/title/Library">Library</a>. {1}

The school is now known as <a href="/title/Seminole+State+College+of+Florida">Seminole State College of Florida</a>.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.seminolestate.edu/about/scchistory.htm">school commenced instructional programs</a> as Seminole Junior College in <a href="/title/1966">1966</a>, initially operating from portable structures and under the supervision of its first president, <a href="/title/Dr.+Earl+S.+Weldon">Dr. Earl S. Weldon</a>. </p>
<p>Seminole Junior College adopted the name Seminole Community College in <a href="/title/1975">1975</a>. 20 years later, in <a href="/title/1995">1995</a>, Dr. Weldon retired. His replacement, <a href="/title/Dr.+E.+Ann+McGee">Dr. E. Ann McGee</a>, succeeded Weldon as president in <a href="/title/1996">1996</a> The change of the school's name from Seminole Community to Seminole State College was agreed to by its <a href="/title/board+of+trustees">board of trustees</a> in <a href="/title/2009">2009</a>.</p>
