Currently on the site is a park, covering nine acres, which was built in 1987 at a cost of 20 million dollars.

In the park is the Forks Market, an indoor complex, housing many diverse shops and restaraunts. As well as the Johnston Terminal, which contains more shops, the Explore Manitoba tourist information area.

Straw bales are not to be confused with hay bales, which are edible; straw is all cellulose, and has very little food value.
