It is comprised of two "power trios." Fripp's original goal was to have a trio Pat Mastelotto, Trey Gunn, and himself opposite a trio of Adrian Belew,&Tony Levin, and Bill Bruford. The idea worked better in theory than in practice.

Mastelotto is more of a groove-based drummer than Bruford, and his playing reflects this.
Atom Heart Mother (thing)http://everything2.com/user/Bocephus/writeups/Atom+Heart+MotherBocephushttp://everything2.com/user/Bocephus1999-11-13T09:16:46Z1999-11-13T09:16:46Z
A progressive rock album by Pink Floyd. It is played with a technique somewhat reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen's famous two-handed tapping, except that the right hand, which plays the bass strings (which are reversed from their normal order on a bass guitar, to make the instrument more symmetrical), is held perpendicular to the instrument.
