One of those Post-2019 Things

An idiomatic expression that conveys unexpected astonishment or surprise, often concerning a new, widespread, and/or imminent danger. Think potential impending doom.

When a person says, “Well, that wasn’t on my bingo card,” or, "I did not have _____ on my bingo card," they mean that they didn’t predict or foresee a particular event or situation, e.g. murder hornets or zombie deer. It’s predominately used humorously or sarcastically, or to divert attention from unvoiced sadness at the state of the world and humanity's effect thereon. The current year may also precede bingo card in such phrases.

Synonymous with, "I didn't see that coming."
