In 1977, Davis Publications published the first edition of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. I still have my original copies of my subscription on a shelf in my writing office.

The first editor was George Scithers, a nice gent who gave me my first professional rejection letter. The rejection was a form letter but on the back was a signed note telling me to continue writing and one day I would make it into the digest-sized magazine. As a new baby author, I was hooked.

Over the years the name condensed down to Asimov's Science Fiction, although it's just known as Asimov's to most science fiction fans and writers. It's still in production, one of the few professional rate magazines accepting work from both established authors and newbies. Their editor style seems to be more from a people perspective than from a harder science fiction angle like you'd find in Analog.

The magazine is currently published in a bimonthly fashion, six times a year. The current publisher is Penny Publications.

If you write science fiction, this is one of the holy grails of publication. The market is SFWA-approved for membership.
