I am insufficiently yet overly caffeinated, operating on little sleep, and smothered in stress. Latin, latin, latin. I greatly miss when I thought learning the declension tables was the hard part.

First declension I was like "oh, this is a lot."

Second declension I was like "what the fuck, neuters?"

Third declension, I was like "okay I think that's enough declensions for me."

I learned the fourth and fifth declensions after the relative pronoun and a bunch of types of ablatives, so I was like "this is such a nice break. Thank you for only giving me a declension this week instead of throwing me another relative pronoun."

Now I have to deal with all these ablatives, and also participles, which I just barely barely comprehend. Now I'm learning about the ablative absolute, the passive periphrastic, the dative of agent, and I'm just sitting here like... dude.
All writers, fundamentally, are custodians of attention. Shakespeare is perhaps the most able manager of audience attention that has ever lived, and my personal interest in him stems from wondering what we can learn from him as a writer. Hamlet" class='populated' >Hamlet is an interesting case study because his project is to revive an old genre, which is very hard to do at a mature point in a genre’s history, and yet he does it so spectacularly that Hamlet is commonly regarded not just as Shakespeare's first undisputed masterpiece but also as a high-water mark of all world literature.

As a manager of attention, Shakespeare is doing everything that he can possibly do to in Hamlet keep your brain away from things that are sand traps for writers. Stenophylla, meaning "narrow leaves", was at one time cultivated on a small scale throughout Africa, but it later vanished as a cultivated crop, and was rediscovered in the late 1800s. During the 20th century people began to take interest in it again, particularly in light of the possibility of increasing temperatures as a result of climate change.

Thomas Gooding had been a mason in life and probably worked on the cathedral in which he is now inhumed, buried upright to facilitate his easy resurrection. A trope of the film is that each time Ghost Faced Killer shows up to take revenge on one of the gang leaders who in the past tried to have the killer killed, he (Ghost Faced Killer) throws a medallion on the ground, by which his victim immediately recognizes who his about-to-be-attacker is, prompting the victim to exclaim, "Ghost Faced Killer"!! Clearly a motif stolen from the earlier horror film, Bag of Crushed Child, but I digress.
It has been frequently observed that the Law of Fives is an insightful commentary on the ability for a human to make connections amongst disparate, discreet points.

However, what has not been pointed out (recently) is the connection (hah!) between creativity, inspiration, and joining of conflicting elements.

Also notable that this is a considerably slower paced, stripped down version of the song with only acoustic guitar and vocals present.

Makes all the sense in the world for Stipe to have been inspired by what Gabriel was doing. Especially in the mid 80s when Stipe was really just starting to bloom as a songwriter. Most of Reckoning(1984), and Murmur before it(83), was filled with pretty meaningless lyricism, more about the sound the words made than the words themselves. Then there's Fables(85), a true growing pains album and I would argue the most divisive in their entire discography (because Monster is actually fairly well-respected,
…Suggestions for E2 (thing)http://everything2.com/user/panamaus/writeups/Suggestions+for+E2panamaushttp://everything2.com/user/panamaus2024-03-22T20:19:43Z2024-03-22T20:19:43Z
2024-03-22: This has bugged me for years... actually, for decades. When you visit the home node of a user who has at some point posted at least one writeup, you will see their "most recent writeup" listed. Problem is, if they delete all their writeups, or have all their writeups reparented to another account, and no longer have any writeups, there will still be a working link shown to the writeup that was, by some last calculation, their last. For fled noders who Asamoth, this will often lead an Editor to that draft document, but for a non-elevated account it will frequently be a dead link.

Fixing this seems trivial to my non-edev eyes. There is already a check being run when you load someone's home node to see if they have any writeups, because if they don't then the "number of write-ups" section is not displayed. Couldn't we easily add some code to that check so that it also prevents the display of "most recent writeup
…I heard a fly buzz (poetry)http://everything2.com/user/panamaus/writeups/I+heard+a+fly+buzzpanamaushttp://everything2.com/user/panamaus2024-03-22T04:52:57Z2024-03-22T04:52:57Z
