Holocaust Metal was the rather odd name that was attached to
Norwegian Black Metal band
Immortal's music. The band for a bit adopted it, before decideing that it meant too many other things (read the Jewish
Holocaust in
Nazi-era
Germany) aside from a general
apocalypse like they meant it.
This name was attached to their music around the time of their second cd Pure Holocaust, a classic in black metal. Their drummer at the time used the term to describe their music in an interveiw. And it stuck. By their fourth cd Battles in the North they had given it up though.
