A fiction genre that is not story-oriented, but is instead focused on details and aspects of a technology or device. This could either be possible (or plausible) future discoveries or unsubstantiated historical accounts and designs. Prime examples of technical fiction are "write-only memory" and such things as the "Star Trek: the Next Generation Technical Manual". This is differentiated from 'regular' science fiction due to the absence of a storyline (as such) or any literary plot.
