Socket 4 is a 273 pin PGA designed for the original Pentium series -- the 60 and 66 mHz models. Although it has a low number of pins in comparison to a later socket, like Socket 7, it is quite a lot bigger due the the size of the die the original Pentiums used and the amount of heat that needed to be disapated, which was usually in excess of 16 watts.
