Every night before I go to sleep
I’ll leave myself a gift.
An incentive to keep on.
There on my desk, neat and clear,
A fine sheet of paper.
Blank without blemish
and a pen to keep it company
So that when I awake
An allure I might feel
To create tangibly all the ideas
That whirlpool around my head
in the dreamscape of the night.
