800 horizontal by 600 vertical pixels. Standard computing 4:3 aspect ratio, or 1.33. Nowdays the minimum resolution for viewing websites and using software or doing just about anything else useful. Recommended resolution for 14" and 15" monitors. This is generally the highest resolution a monitor will support, which can get into the 300 hertz range. Requires 1MB of video memory in order to run at colors greater than 256. Still an excellent resolution for gaming, but not the best solution for two dimensional windowing pixel pushing.
