When she woke up that morning (early)
she took out her dressups.
High heeled plastic shoes, hot pink
clacking on the tiles and
the wire bent tiara that shed glitter
on her wispy brown hair.

She was only wearing underwear and her long
four year old legs were spindly,
frail looking. I thought she would break.

Up and down the hallway, as the summer sun
snuck in the windows, she practiced her hip swivel and smile.

There was no way I could go back to sleep,
so I took a picture instead.

Man, she was beautiful at 6 a.m..
