Term of endearment for those On The Bus ("soul sister", for females), rooted in the 60s African-American community. In mass media terms, a neo-fetchit stereotype, dime-a-dozen commodity in the 70s, belatedly reworked into what later became known as the gangsta. It was Ted Lange's ticket into television - as a jive-talkin' sly-walkin' set-piece on a sitcom called That's My Mama, which led to a somewhat more subdude (sic) gig as Issac on The Love Boat.
