Le Groupe des Six. Six French composers coming out from under the shadow of impressionist music (e.g. Debussy, Ravel), while not embracing the atonal Manifest Destiny of the Viennese school of Arnold Schoenberg and his pupils. Erik Satie was their inspiration - their concerts sometimes featured his works. Each of the six - Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Arthur Honegger, Germaine Tailleferre, Georges Auric, and Louis Durey - had his/her own unique style.
