A brief phenomenon of the 60s hippie age; a jazz quartet that found an audience in rock venues - something not lost on Miles Davis. Lloyd (a sub-Coltrane tenor from Memphis) was the weak link in a group that included Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette, and bassist Cecil McBee (and Ron McClure, at one time). They had the subcultural signs (the love beads, long hair, jeans, etc) and had a small underground hit with "Forest Flower"; they were the nearest thing to rock stars in the jazz world.
