Consciousness is not lost and the
sufferer can
remember all aspects of the
seizure. Usually only
movement,
emotion and
sensations are affected by this type of seizure (for example: unusual tastes, smells, visions, or feeling sudden unexplained and intense
fear). In many cases
simple partial seizures lead to
complex partial seizures or
generalized tonic-clonic seizures and are often perceived as being an "
aura". These are actually a simple partial seizure, and often the only way the sufferer knows they are about to have a full
generalized tonic-clonic seizure.
